What is VIP?

VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide — VPAC1/VPAC2 agonist) is a 28-amino acid neuropeptide. 28-amino acid neuropeptide activating VPAC1 (expressed broadly) and VPAC2 (expressed in pancreas, heart, lung) receptors — class B GPCRs signalling via cAMP. Produces vasodilation, smooth muscle relaxation, immunomodulation, SCN circadian pacemaker regulation, bronchodilation, and GI secretagogue effects.
