What is Tesamorelin?
Tesamorelin (Trans-3-hexenoic acid GHRH(1-44) analog) is a 44-amino acid full-length GHRH analog + fatty acid conjugate. Full-length GHRH(1-44) analog conjugated to trans-3-hexenoic acid, extending half-life while maintaining full GHRH-R agonism. FDA approved for HIV-associated lipodystrophy (abdominal fat reduction). Produces greater GH pulse amplitude than truncated GHRH analogs (sermorelin, CJC-1295) with full receptor occupancy.
Research Applications
Full-Length GHRH-R Agonism
44aa vs truncated 29aa analogs — receptor activation comparison
FDA-Approved Reference
HIV lipodystrophy indication — abdominal fat and metabolic outcomes
GH Pulse Amplitude
Greater GH release vs sermorelin/CJC-1295 in equivalent dose studies
Visceral Adiposity
Abdominal fat reduction models, lipodystrophy research
Metabolic Effects
GH-mediated lipid metabolism, IGF-1 restoration, body composition
