What is HGH?
HGH (Recombinant Human Growth Hormone (191 aa, somatropin)) is a 191-amino acid recombinant protein. Recombinant human growth hormone acting directly at the GH receptor (GHR) — bypasses the pituitary entirely with non-pulsatile pharmacokinetics. Stimulates hepatic IGF-1 production, anabolic signalling in muscle via IGF-1R, adipose lipolysis, and GH-induced insulin resistance at supraphysiological doses.
Research Applications
GH Receptor Biology
Direct GHR binding, JAK2-STAT5 signalling, receptor downregulation
IGF-1 Axis
Hepatic IGF-1 production, IGFBP regulation, GH→IGF-1 axis
Body Composition
Muscle anabolism, adipose lipolysis, nitrogen retention models
GH Deficiency Models
Hypopituitary and GH-deficient rodent restoration research
vs Secretagogues
Pulsatile (secretagogues) vs non-pulsatile (direct HGH) comparison
