Janoshik COA Verification Guide: Check Peptide Purity | QSC
Janoshik is the independent third-party verification standard in the research peptide community. This page explains what Janoshik is, how to use it to verify a peptide Certificate of Analysis, and why it matters for research procurement decisions.
What Is Janoshik?
Janoshik is an independent analytical testing laboratory that tests research peptide samples submitted by vendors and publishes the results in publicly searchable records. The Janoshik verification portal at verify.janoshik.com allows any researcher to search batch reference numbers and retrieve independent confirmation of a vendor’s stated purity and identity claims.
Janoshik has become the de facto verification standard in the research peptide community because it solves the fundamental trust problem in the peptide market: without third-party testing, a vendor’s Certificate of Analysis is self-reported and cannot be verified independently. With Janoshik, the test results are confirmed by a laboratory that has no commercial relationship with the researcher and that publishes results publicly regardless of what they show.
How Janoshik Verification Works
1
Vendor submits sample
The peptide vendor sends a batch sample to Janoshik’s laboratory for independent analysis.
2
Janoshik tests independently
Janoshik performs HPLC purity analysis and/or mass spectrometry on the submitted sample, independent of the vendor’s own testing.
3
Results published publicly
Janoshik publishes the test results in a searchable public record with a unique batch reference number.
4
Researcher verifies
Any researcher can search the batch reference number at verify.janoshik.com to confirm the results independently.
How to Verify a QSC COA Using Janoshik
Navigate to the QSC product page for the compound you are purchasing.
Click the Certificate of Analysis link on the product page.
Note the Janoshik batch reference number in the COA header or footer.
Enter the batch reference number in the search field.
The Janoshik record will display: compound name, purity result, molecular weight data, and test date.
Confirm these match the values stated on the QSC COA.
What Janoshik Verification Confirms
A valid Janoshik verification record confirms three things:
Authenticity: The COA data was generated by an independent laboratory, not self-reported by the vendor.
Purity: The HPLC purity result stated on the COA matches what Janoshik independently measured.
Identity: Where MS data is included, the molecular weight of the tested compound matches the expected value for the stated peptide.
What Janoshik Verification Does Not Confirm
Janoshik tests a submitted sample. It does not test every vial in a batch. There is a small theoretical gap between the submitted sample and individual vials in large batch runs — though batch homogeneity in lyophilized peptide production is generally high. Janoshik verification should be understood as independent confirmation of the submitted sample’s properties, which is representative of the batch but not a per-vial guarantee.
Frequently Asked Questions About Janoshik
What is Janoshik?
Janoshik is an independent analytical testing laboratory. Peptide vendors submit batch samples and Janoshik publishes the test results in publicly searchable records at verify.janoshik.com. It is the primary independent verification tool used in the research peptide community.
Is Janoshik affiliated with QSC?
No. Janoshik is an independent laboratory with no commercial relationship with QSC or any other vendor. QSC submits samples to Janoshik as a customer of Janoshik’s testing services. The results are published by Janoshik independently, and QSC has no ability to alter or remove them.
Does QSC use Janoshik for all products?
Yes. QSC submits every batch to Janoshik for independent verification. The Janoshik batch reference number appears in the COA on every QSC product page.
What if a vendor doesn’t use Janoshik?
Vendors without Janoshik verification have self-reported COAs. This does not automatically mean their products are low quality — some vendors use other third-party testing services. However, Janoshik’s public searchability makes it uniquely verifiable by individual researchers without any involvement from the vendor. Non-Janoshik COAs typically require trusting the vendor’s disclosure of their testing partner and cannot be independently confirmed in real time.
